Need a new phone but don’t want to sell your first born for it? According to Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is working on a new iPhone that will enter the market at a much more affordable price point and is set to be released in this first half of 2020.
Ahead of expected Apple 5G devices to be announced later this year (September), the early 2020 device will be a fusion of the iPhone SE, iPhone 8, and iPhone 11. Dubbed online as iPhone 4.7” and iPhone SE 2, we’ll see aesthetics almost identical to the iPhone 8 with a 4.7” LCD screen (that of the iPhone SE) and some of the internal specs of the iPhone 11. We don’t expect to see 5G capabilities in this release, though will be likely seen in later this year’s flagship line-up.
Apple’s entry-level device will be an affordable upgrade option for many iPhone 6 and 6s users that need an upgrade without breaking the bank. Prices are expected to start at $399 USD ($586 AUD) and available in Space Grey, Silver, and Red. Widespread online is that the tech-giant is planning for a March 2020 release, months ahead of the usual September timing.
Don’t expect to see a major upgrade for iOS just yet, iPhone 4.7” will more than likely ship with the current iOS13. Previous Apple launches suggest we will see an update in iOS in September this year with the next round of iPhones.
